PUERTO DEL CARMEN

The 6km long “Avenida de las Playas” stretches from Matagorda (next to the airport) all the way through to the Old Town “El Varadero”. During the festive dates on the island such as Carnival or summer fairs, this is definetly the place to be.  Due to the height differences, this bit is more difficult to reach for people with walking difficulties, but it is certainly worth it.

From here you can make various boat trips and then enjoy tapas and freshly caught fish from a restaurant with a view over the sea and harbor. Have a look at our Restaurant Recommendations  for a great reference.

On the top of the Old Town, you will find the “Biosfera Shopping Centre” a great place for some shopping with fabulous brands such as Zara, Guess and many more!

This popular resort is lively and packed full of entertainment. Stretching over 6 Kilometers of coast, it has large sandy beaches, a busy main strip full of shops, excellent restaurants, bars and clubs, and the scenic old town port.

Puerto del Carmen is centrally located on the coast of Lanzarote, with only a 5 minute drive from the airport. Due to its location, Puerto del Carmen is an excellent base for day trips in Lanzarote.

Puerto del Carmen is the place of entertainment, fast food restaurants and fun on the water. It is not without reason that you will find the largest concentration of hotels, apartments and tourists here. The wide beaches lie from the wind that is characteristic of Lanzarote, so that the temperatures on the beaches is a bit higher than in many other places on the island. This makes Puerto del Carmen suitable for a beach holiday almost all year round and it is one of the most important winter sun destinations in Europe.

PLAYA BLANCA

Home to some of the Islands most spectacular beaches, The resort town of Playa Blanca is situated on the southern coast of Lanzarote, a half hours drive from Arrecife Airport. This tranquil coast has stunning views across the sea to the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura. Perfect for easy walking, Playa Blanca is mostly flat and often has the least wind, and highest temperatures on the island due to its sheltered location.

Despite the great activity that reigns in Playa Blanca, this area has received various awards for the cleanliness of its streets. Likewise, it has a pleasant promenade around the old area, and it is also a place where you can enjoy a quiet and peaceful vacation. For many people, Playa Blanca is the place where we can find the most beautiful beaches in Lanzarote. Have a look at our post on the Beaches of Lanzarote.

In the same way, it is highly recommended not to leave the area without enjoying the nature and landscape of Playa de Papagayo. The volcanic formation of Los Ajaches flanks this beach giving it a dark background that contrasts with the intense blue and green of its waters.

Montaña Roja, a spectacular red Volcano sits to the west, hike to the top for the best panoramic views of the area. The town has a busy tourist centre with plenty of shops, supermarkets and doctors. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, stroll along the seaside promenade exploring the many beaches, bars and restaurants, or keep walking west to discover the lighthouse, Faro de Pechiguera. Walking east you will find Marina Rubicon, which hosts markets Wednesdays and Saturday mornings. Here you’ll find high quality restaurants, tapas bars, and shopping in a gorgeous setting, surrounded by yachts and launches.

BuenaVilla is proud to manage some of the best holiday villas in Playa Blanca. From affordable holiday homes with private pools to some of the most exclusive villas in Lanzarote.

ARRECIFE

Arrecife has been the Capital of Lanzarote since the 19th century and is the viberant heart of Lanzarote. Small and busy streets lead to a historic city with a beautifull seafront walk.
The “Puente de las Bolas” (Bridge of the Balls), is a paved bridge that served as access to the Castle of San Gabriel. Its 175 meters long and was built in the 16th century providing access to the castle. Currently the fortress has become the museum of the history of Arrecife.

CHARCO DE SAN GINÉS

In the very heart of Arrecife lays “El Charco de San Gines”, a small lake which is where most fishermen used to gather. Now it has turned into a viberant area filled with quality restaurants. The small boats that are anchored on the lake provide a postcard-like scenery.

HARIA & LOS VALLES

Haria, also known as the valley of a thousand palmtrees is to be found in the north of Lanzarote, the greenest area of the island thanks to a microclimate. The artisan and manufacturing tradition is one of the greatest values of modern Haría.

Los Valles is a small town close to the ancient capital of Teguise. It’s famous for its production of potatoes and is also called “the town of the potatoe”. From here you can enjoy some fabulous trekking routes across the volcanoes.
